Special thanks to collaborators Kevin Cole and Liam Brown.

Kevin Cole, a.k.a. “The Ubuntourist”, is a dear friend who, being old, has personal experience working on computers of roughly the vintage of the Altair 8800, and understands how these early computing environments work. It was only with his support and guidance that we were able to get through the first several iterations of our course. His beautiful html port of the Altair 8800 Manual has also made it much more pleasant for our 21st century students to navigate this ancient text.

Liam graduated from our program with an A.S. in computer science. For his senior year capstone project he worked with the Altair clone in our classroom, learning how it worked and making numerous contributions to the way we used it in class. Three years later he returned for semester internship where he again transformed the course by contributing an expect script that enable students to compile and run BDSC programs from their host enviroments.
